About

A giant fountain in Lake Geneva that shoots water about 140 m into the air, the emblem of the city.

History

It began in 1886 as a safety valve for a hydraulic power plant.

Good to know

  • Walk out along the pier for a close view; the jet is switched off in very strong wind or ice.
  • It is lit up in the evening.
